Dancing in the Golden Street

A mixed media illustration using acrylic paint, markers, and colored pencils that I designed in comemoration of Hip-Hop History Month. The painting depicts a lively young man who is breakdancing– a form of freestyle dance that is popular in hip-hop culture. He dances in front of a small crowd on a street painted with gold accents in the road and throughout the piece. Gold is used as a thematic color to represent hip-hop culture. Other symbolisms include graffiti imagery and the personified stereo player.
